Rajan在印度的关键时刻接受任命，在三年任期内，Rajan带领印度成功逃过了金融危机，稳定了汇率，并吸引大批外资流入。随着印度加快金融改革，中国企业也开始大举投资印度。他是名符其实的学者型官员。

Rajan一直以来都在抵制过度宽松的货币政策，任期内好几次顶住财政部要求再度降息的压力，坚持认为央行应使用模型来预测通胀，而非凭直觉来制定货币政策。Rajan向印度版支付宝Paytm等11家企业颁发了支付牌照，“直接从政策层面改变了印度互联网金融的生态结构，也极大提振了包括中国投资者在内的外国风险投资者对于持续投资印度的信心。”

在担任央行行长之前，Rajan曾在2003年至2006年担任IMF首席经济学家。作为一位学者，他因对金融刺激下的信贷繁荣颇有先见性的预警而声明鹊起，早在2005年他就发出过“尾部风险”的警告，他的研究也在美联储前任主席格林斯潘那里获得了证实。

上海高级金融学院将有幸于2017年1月14日晚请到印度前央行行长为全院师生校友发表专题学术演讲，他会就“货币政策的游戏规则”发表长达一个半小时的主题演讲，届时也会有高金教授们与Rajan展开圆桌讨论。

拉格拉姆·拉詹（Raghuram Rajan）芝加哥大学布斯商学院杰出金融学教授，前印度央行行长；

曾任国际货币基金组织(IMF)的首席经济学家及研究中心主任，国际清算银行副主席，美国金融协会主席，获得美国金融协会授予的首届费希尔布莱克奖；

他曾任印度央行行长，2014年当选《欧洲货币》杂志年度中央银行行长，2015年当选《中央银行》杂志年度中央银行行长，2016年被《时代》杂志评为全球最有影响力的100人之一；

他的研究领域包括银行、公司金融和经济发展及金融在经济发展中所扮演的角色等。2003年，他与LuigiZingales联合著作《SavingCapitalism from the Capitalists》(《从资本家手中拯救资本主义》)，撰写了《断层线：隐形断裂如何继续威胁世界经济》一书，并因此获得金融时报最佳商业图书奖；

Dr. Rajan is a Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. Prior to that he was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Rajan was the Chief Economist and Director of Research at the International Monetary Fund from 2003 to 2006.

Dr. Rajan’s research interests are in banking, corporate finance, and economic development. His books include Saving Capitalism from the Capitalists with Luigi Zingales and Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten the World Economy, for which he received the Financial Times best business book award in 2010.

Dr. Rajan was the President of the American Finance Association in 2011 and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Group of Thirty. In 2003, he received the American Finance Association’s inaugural Fischer Black Prize for the best finance researcher under 40. He has also received the Infosys prize for the Economic Sciences in 2012, the Deutsche Bank Prize for Financial Economics in 2013, Euromoney magazine’s Central Banker of the Year 2014, Central Banking magazine's Central Banker of the Year 2015, and The Banker magazine's Global Central Banker of the Year 2016. From 2015-2016 he was elected Vice-Chairman, Bank of International Settlements. In 2016, Time magazine chose Dr. Rajan as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
